At LifeDock, we have years of experience delivering physical activity programmes for older adults, individuals with limited mobility and those with disabilities. One key lesson we have learned is that one size does not fit all! Teaching a chair-based exercise session in a care home is very different from instructing participants in a leisure centre.
In a care home, many residents may have very limited mobility and additional conditions, such as dementia, which can greatly affect their ability to move and engage.
In contrast, a chair-based exercise session in a leisure centre typically includes participants who have arrived by walking, driving or using public transport. This group is generally more capable of following instructions, participating in structured exercises and demonstrating a degree of motivation, as they have chosen to be there.
What sets ChairTastic apart from other chair-based exercise programmes is its versatility. You will learn how to deliver ChairTastic sessions in one of three engaging formats: ChairTastic Fun, ChairTastic Functional and ChairTastic Fusion.
This will enable the leader to deliver chair-based exercise sessions that everyone, regardless of ability, can enjoy and benefit from.
